Lakers allow Turiaf to join Warriors (AP)
With great reluctance, the Los Angeles Lakers decided at Friday's deadline they wouldn't match Golden State's offer for Ronny Turiaf, meaning the former second-round draft choice will move up the California coast to play for the Warriors. "There are emotional ties with Ronny that go beyond basketball," Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said on a conference call.


Jazz extend PG Williams' contract (AP)
Point guard Deron Williams signed a contract extension with Utah on Friday that will keep him with the Jazz through at least the 2011-12 season. Williams, who still had one year left on the rookie contract he signed after the Jazz picked him third overall in the 2005 NBA draft, signed a three-year deal with a one year option.


Lakers F Walton undergoes ankle surgery (AP)
Los Angeles Lakers forward Luke Walton underwent surgery Friday to remove bone spurs and scar tissue and clean up some cartilage debris from his right ankle. Oklahoma City signs Miles to offer sheet (AP)
Oklahoma City has signed restricted free agent guard C.J. Miles to an offer sheet. Oklahoma city general manager Sam Presti announced the move on Friday. Under terms of the NBA's collective bargaining agreement, Miles' current team, the Utah Jazz, has seven days to match the multiyear offer. Miles was the 34th player chosen in the 2005 draft, selected by Utah out of Skyline High School in Dallas.


76ers sign 1st-round pick Speights (AP)
Marreese Speights, taken by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 16th overall pick in June's NBA draft, signed with the team on Friday. The Los Angeles Clippers continued their busy offseason Thursday, signing restricted free agent swing man Kelenna Azubuike to an offer sheet. The 24-year-old Azubuike, who played at Kentucky, averaged 8.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 21.4 minutes while playing 81 games for the Golden State Warriors last season.
